  • Q. Why have I been told I am not eligible for a Saracens contactless wristband when completing the registration process?

Because the Saracens contactless wristband is a financial product, when you register, a basic name search is completed in the background to establish your identity. • Q. I am unable to load funds to my Sarcens contactless wristband

There are a number of reasons this could occur. 1. The address on your Saracens account needs to match the address where the card being used to load is registered. 2. There are insufficient funds in the account being used to add funds. 3. The card you are using is not a MasterCard or Visa credit or debit card. 4. The card you are using is not valid i.e. card expired or not a UK registered card.

This means you won’t need to worry about running out of funds. • Q. When can my Saracens contactless wristband be used for travel?

You can now use contactless across the entire Transport for London (TfL) network – to any travel zone on train, tube, tram and bus. Ensure you use the same wristband for every journey you make and you could benefit from daily and weekly fare capping. For more information about using contactless on TfL visit: https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/contactless

  • Q. What are the benefits of using my Saracens contactless wristband for travel on TfL services?

You don’t need an Oyster card or paper ticket in advance. There is no wasting time queueing for a ticket or topping up. You could benefit from daily and weekly fare capping, there is no deposit to be paid like the Oyster card and no commitment to a Travelcard.

  • Q. Do I use my Saracens contactless wristband in the same way as using an Oyster card?

Yes, just tap the barrier at the start and end of every journey on the tube and tap the reader when you board a bus. It couldn’t be easier. For more information about using contactless on TfL visit: https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/contactless

  • Q. How much will I be charged for using my Saracens contactless wristband on the TfL network?

Your fare will be charged as an adult Pay As You Go, normally the same as Oyster. If you qualify for a travel concession it may be worth visiting TfL https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/adult-discounts-and-concessions before using your wristband to travel. Fare capping allows you to make a number of journeys in a single day but limits the amount you pay for your travel. Once the total amount of all your fares reaches a certain amount you won’t have to pay any more for your journeys. A Monday to Sunday cap is also in place for journeys made between Monday and Sunday which limits the amount you pay during a weekly period. For more information, call TfL on 0343 222 1234 or visit www.tfl.gov.uk/contactless

  • Q. When will I be charged for my TfL travel when using my Saracens contactless wristband on the TfL network?

Sometimes transactions for TfL can take 1-2 working days after you’ve made the journey to appear on your account as these charges are calculated at the end of each working day so that you can benefit from the daily and weekly fare capping.

  • Q. Why do I sometimes see a 10 pence TfL charge appearing in transactions in My Account?

TfL need to ensure you have sufficient funds on your wristband to travel so you may see a small amount appear on your account. This is an authorisation to travel which is converted into the actual fare amount once TfL know what your journey cost will be.

  • Q. Why does the TfL gate show a red light (or not open) when I touch my Saracens contactless wristband on the gate?

There are 3 reasons why the gate may not open or you are presented with a red light: 1. If the gate does not open you may have insufficient funds and you will need to add additional funds. You can set auto top up to ensure you always have enough money to travel. 2. TfL will block a wristband if there is an unpaid fare. To disable the block you will need to contact TfL customer services on 0343 222 1234. It can take up to 30 minutes from speaking with TfL for the block to be lifted. 3. The gate will not open if you touch two or more contactless devices on the reader at the same time.

  • Q. If I use on the TfL network, do I need to hand over my Saracens contactless wristband to a member of TfL staff to resolve an issue?

No, but you might be asked to touch your wristband on the inspector's card reader. This will only tell them what the last transaction was and will not pass on any personal details.
